Finishing "Finishing School" (I promise)

Alright, let's do this so it's done. Tomorrow is going to be depressing enough with JJ's last episode, without this hanging over us.

This is the third and final (yes, really) part of the recap. Here's part one and part two.

Spoilers for the book follow, of course...

So Hotch starts giving the profile and says that the UnSub is not a paedophile. The local cops are all like, "What do you mean this guy's not a perv?" All the profilers "wince" at the use of the word "perv", as I'm sure they're not used to hearing that kind of terminology at all. So Reid-of course it's Reid-explains about paedophiles and then Hotch says that they're looking for a couple who are snatching the girls to replace or gain kids. He gives the profile of the male UnSub and says both Fryman and Silvan fit the profile.

Then he gives the profile of the female UnSub. She is:

A victim of child abuse
The dominant partner
The one actually committing the murders, with the husband-the submissive partner-doing the abductions.

The profile's interrupted by someone bursting in and reporting the Cohasset kidnapping. Morgan, Reid, Hotch and Garue rush out to go find Fryman and Silvan.

So meanwhile, Rossi and Prentiss are at Clenteen HQ with the company's HR Director, Dorothy. She's acting all hardass, refusing to give the agents information on Fryman and Silvan. Seriously, this woman has issues. She knows they're FBI agents investigating six murders yet she's confidentialitying it up. Finally she tells them when Fryman and Silvan each gave in their notices to Clenteen.

When Rossi and Prentiss get out of there, Hotch calls Rossi and tells him about the latest kidnapping. Rossi and Prentiss figure the UnSubs are about to make a run for it and the male UnSub is shopping to replace the murdered girls. They start heading back to Bemidji.

Back in Bemidji, the UnSubs have already cleared out their house, so the team won't find them there when they come aknockin'. The male UnSub turns up with the newest girl at the motel that wifey is hiding out at. It's at this point we find out the UnSub is Lawrence Silvan. Yeah, that's right-the one that was sooooo helpful when Reid phoned him in the middle of the night to arrange interviews.

And we finally meet Lawrence's wife Suzanne. Suzanne the murderer. Her hair is brown, apart from a front section, which is dyed blonde and hangs down in front of her face like a comma. We also find out that with each batch of three girls they take, they rename them all with names beginning with the same letter. This new batch will have names starting with L.

So then we have this creepy scene in the motel room where Suzanne is fawning over both "her" new girls (who are both unconscious) like they're Jimmy Choos and Lawrence is feeling like a Big Man on Campus cos he's the one who brought home the shopping.

But there are only two girls and the Silvans shop in threes-it turns out that Lawrence has a North Dakota girl in mind to pick up as soon as they leave town.

But first we get to the part of the plan where Lawrence is going to frame someone for the crimes before they flee. He's already sold his car to Fryman (he's been using rental cars for the kidnappings) and is now going to go back to Fryman's house to plant one of the little girls' coats in the boot of the car, before meeting back up with Suzanne and the girls to leave town.

Suzanne is all like, oh it's too risky to go there and Lawrence is all like "oh, it'll be fine". Huh huh, yeah.

So Morgan, Hotch, Reid and Garue are hanging out at Fryman's house after going to Silvan's and finding no one home. Fryman's there and all nervous. His wife, Amy, is also there. Morgan thinks Amy looks like a hippie. Both Fryman and Amy are really cooperative and answer all the questions so now Morgan's convinced Silvan's the UnSub.

Hotch keeps on questioning them though and at one point gives "a fairly ghastly smile", which I can so imagine. Then they notice that a car keeps driving slowly by the house and they figure out that someone knows the FBI is in the house and is waiting for them to leave.

Morgan says out loud that he thinks the UnSub is Silvan and that it's him in the car. The Frymans freak out and Reid figures that Silvan might be trying to frame someone (clever Reid). Fryman tells them that Silvan sold him his car and Morgan realises that Silvan's come to plant evidence in it and that's why he's waiting for the agents to leave.

Luckily, Morgan has a cunning plan. Because Silvan knows the FBI's in da house but obviously doesn't know exactly how many agents are hanging out, Morgan gets Reid, Hotch and Garue to leave through the front door, whilst he slips out the back. Silvan sees Hotch, Reid and Garue leaving, thinks it's all clear and parks up by Fryman's house.

Morgan creeps up on him from the back of the house and as soon as Silvan puts the coat in the car boot, Morgan springs up and tells him to freeze. Of course, Lawrence interprets this as "run like hell" and starts legging it towards the nearby woods. Where Hotch, Reid and Garue have been lying in wait, obviously. As he's running, Silvan somehow manages to get out his mobile and phone his wife, giving her a coded message to flee. Then Morgan tackles him to the ground, the phone goes flying, and Silvan starts acting all dumb: What wife? What girls?

Reid figures the coded phone call was to wifey and so she'll now be on the run. Garue goes to raise the alarm and then Silvan starts saying that he did all the kidnapping and murdering all by himself and the wife had nothing to do with it.

Back at the LEC, Silvan gets to be interrogated by Hotch. While he's interrogating him, Hotch realises that Silvan reminds him of a comic actor from his childhood. The actor is called Wally Cox. I have no idea if this was a real person, but feel free to Google him. I'm a bit scared to, for some reason.

Anyway, Silvan carries on with the "it was all me" BS until Hotch cracks him by accusing him of having sex with the girls. Silvan didn't do this, obviously, and he's all like "oh, hellz no". Then Hotch admits he knows Silvan isn't a paedo and by this time Silvan is so freaked out that he admits Suzanne is in on it and does all the killing. During this exchange, Silvan says to Hotch "You're not a good person". Heeeeee.

So Hotch comes out of the interview and Garcia's already worked out where Suzanne is headed with the girls because she's magic (Garcia, not Suzanne). Suzanne is headed to the farm her late parents left her. It's just outside Iowa.

Morgan's already diverted Prentiss and Rossi's jet so that they're now flying to catch Suzanne at the farm, instead of flying back to Bemidji. Gosh, I hope someone's actually told Prentiss and Rossi this, or they're going to be really confused when they step off the plane.

When Suzanne gets to the farm, Prentiss, Rossi and 2 million local cops are there waiting for her. They tell her to get out of her car and Rossi tells her to "assume the position". Prentiss gets the two girls out the car. Suzanne's all like "aw hell, those are my daughters" and then she pretends it's all Lawrence's fault and she didn't know what was going on. And so Rossi's like, "oh yeah, by the way, Lawrence slept with the girls-that's what he meant by 'finishing school'. Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink".

And Suzanne's like NOOOOOOOOOO,I TRIED TO SAVE THEM BY KILLING THEM BUT I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THEM SOONER! With that confession out of the way and taped by Prentiss, Rossi lets the cops take Suzanne away and muses that the 'finishing school' she's likely to be attending is the death penalty. Hilarious.

In the Epilogue, there's this long drawn out goodbye where Keegan and Garue fawn over Rossi and Rossi is like "aw shucks, it was nuthin'". Then it cuts to the team on the plane. Hotch, Rossi and Morgan are all asleep. Reid is reading, obvs. Prentiss and JJ are talking about having kids. When Hotch wakes up and walks past them, they think that he's just going to see Reid but he's actually eavesdropping on them, because that's how he rolls. Then he sits down with them and says JJ would make a good mother.

This makes Prentiss say "What am I, chopped liver?" and Hotch says, "You're a whole different conversation." Teehee. I don't know why this book has suddenly turned into a 1950s B Movie, but then Hotch sulks a bit about how he's not married anymore but then  makes himself feel better by saying the reason he does this job is to make the world safer for Jack. Then he does actually go to Reid and JJ hopes she'll be a good mother some day and tries to go to sleep. In case you're confused by this ending, I'll remind you that this book was set back in season three. And yes, you heard me, I said "ending", which means that this is....

THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
